Undergrad Research Funding Winners

The prizes will be $300 for first place, $200 for second and $100 for third.

Competition is nothing new to these students, who will be showcasing the results of the research proposals that won them Undergraduate Scholar Research grants.

The semester-long awards gave the students $500 and their faculty adviser $300 to use on project-related expenses such as equipment or travel.

The poster competition and the initial competitive proposal process give these students a taste of some of the incentives and experiences common to graduate students.

Dr. Bruce Gnade, vice president for research, intends to make the process an annual event.

Poster topics include:

  • Cost-efficient methods for tracking a flying rocket in real time.
  • Use of carbon nanotubes for removal of cancer cells.
  • Huntington’s Disease treatment in mice.
  • Creating carbon nanotubes.
