UT Dallas senior softball player Amber Griffin has been named as a second-team selection on the prestigious national College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA)/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Team.

Griffin, a senior Business Administration major who set 18 school records during her recently completed career and graduated with a cumulative grade point average of over 3.8, was one of just 12 players nationally to be selected for the team at her position.

Griffin, who started 154 games at shortstop during her four-year UT Dallas career, was selected for the College Division District 6 first-team in voting by members of the national CoSIDA organization.

As a first-team district selection, she advanced to a pool of just 12 candidates to be considered at her position for the prestigious national honor squad. Griffin was the only American Southwest Conference student-athlete to be honored nationally.

The District 6 College Division includes student-athlete nominees from dozens of NCAA member universities in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.

Griffin was a career .421 hitter. She finished with a career stolen-base percentage of over .928.
