The Office of Diversity and Community Engagement recently sponsored the third annual Minority Scholars Symposium for high school seniors from the Dallas Independent School District.

During the daylong event, participants learned about the college admission process, financial aid options and available scholarship opportunities.

Attendees also had the chance to experience college life at UT Dallas when they participated in a faculty lecture and interacted one on one with student leaders from such organizations as the League of United Latin American Citizens, the Academic Bridge Program and the Black Student Alliance.

The event included 180 students from six DISD schools. All participating students are ranked in the top 25 percent of their high school classes.

Participating schools included: Carter High School, Hillcrest High School, Kimball High School, North Dallas High School, A. Maceo Smith High School and Woodrow Wilson High School.
