The Texas Chi chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity will stage a multi-band benefit concert next month to aid the fight against blood cancers.

The fourth annual “Rock the Campus for the Cure 2008” concert will take place outside the UT Dallas Student Union on Sept. 13. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. All proceeds will go to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The concert will honor Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity brother Brad Monks, a UT Dallas student who lost a battle with lymphoma in May 2005. After the loss, the fraternity coordinated the first Rock the Campus concert, raising more than $6,500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

In three years, the event has raised more than $27,000 for the cause.

The concert lineup includes: Forever the Sickest Kids, Sidekick Mafia, Calhoun and other local bands donating their time to the cause. Tickets can be purchased for a $10 donation at the concert Web site.

All proceeds will be donated to the North Texas chapter of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society for blood cancer research and patient aid.
