Three North Texas public universities, including The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), will shortly begin sponsoring monthly seminars about health policy research – related projects and issues that will rotate among the three campuses.
The first North Texas Seminar on Health Policy Research will be held at UTD at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 23, in Green Hall, Room 3.606. Dr. Jeffrey Talbert, associate professor and chair of the Department of Health Policy and Management at the University of North Texas (UNT) Health Science Center School of Public Health, will give a presentation titled, “Should State Medicaid Programs Prior-Authorize Atypical Antipsychotics?”
Sponsors of the monthly seminars are UTD’s School of Social Sciences, the UNT Health Science Center School of Public Health and The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, Department of Family and Community Medicine, Division of Community Medicine. The seminars will focus on health policy research projects and related issues, and are intended for faculty, doctoral students, research professionals and policy practitioners from universities, medical centers and other institutions engaged in health policy research in the North Texas region. Interested members of the public may also attend free of charge.
Plans are to hold the seminars on the last Thursday of each month through May, then resume the presentations in Sept. 2006.
