Toni Messer, director of audit and compliance at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), has received the Aaron Saylors Memorial Award for Outstanding Contribution from the Dallas Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA).

The award is presented annually to an individual who has made significant contributions to the internal audit profession. Messer has held numerous positions with the Dallas Chapter of IIA, has been active in the Association of College and University Auditors and the Texas Association of College and University Auditors and has worked with students in the Endorsed Internal Audit Program in UTD’s School of Management.

Messer has worked at UTD for 14 years, all in the internal audit function. She reports to university President Dr. David E. Daniel. Prior to joining UTD, Messer was employed in the Texas State Auditor’s Office. She earned a bachelor’s degree of Business Administration in Accounting from Texas A&M University and is both a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Internal Auditor.

IIA is an international professional association of more than 117,000 members, headquartered in Altamonte Springs, Florida. The organization provides certification, education, research and technological guidance for those in the internal audit profession.
