RICHARDSON, Texas (June 1, 2004) — Dr. Larry D. Terry, executive vice provost for academic affairs at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) and an international authority in the field of public administration, has been appointed to the United States General Accounting Office’s (GAO) Educator’s Advisory
As a panelist, Terry will help to identify current and emerging issues in higher education and alert the GAO about the changing interests and needs of students, relative to employment with the federal government. The group also will monitor trends related to the recruitment, hiring, development and retention of a diverse, talented and results-oriented work force.
The panel gathers annually in Washington, D.C., and is made up of administrators and highly qualified professionals from key public and private academic institutions, as well as representatives of related professional organizations. Panelists serve for three years. Other notable members include representatives from Duke University, Harvard University, Carnegie Mellon University and the University of California, Berkeley. Terry will attend his first meeting June 9–10.
As executive vice provost for academic affairs, Terry, who joined UTD in 2001, is responsible for faculty affairs, staff appointments and oversight of endowments. Terry also supervises UTD’s Center for U.S./Mexico Studies, the Office of International Education and the university’s Web services, and serves as editor of the prestigious and award-winning scholarly journal Public Administration Review (PAR), which is housed at UTD.
