The IEEE Consumer Electronics Society has selected Nasser Kehtarnavaz as a distinguished lecturer for a two-year term.

Dr. Kehtarnavaz is a professor of electrical engineering and director of the Signal and Image Processing Laboratory at the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at UT Dallas. With the sponsorship of Texas Instruments, he has established a research program for improving what are known as the image pipelines of digital and cell-phone cameras. Various software developed in his research lab has been licensed to TI, and his lab’s latest work on fast passive auto-focusing has resulted in the filing of a full utility patent.
Dr. Kehtarnavaz’s presentations to IEEE chapters will cover the image-processing aspects of digital cameras. His first seminar as a distinguished lecturer was to the Dallas chapter on Tuesday, March 10.
Generally known simply as IEEE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers is the professional organization and standards-setting authority for a wide range of high-tech fields within electrical and electronics engineering, including aerospace and automotive systems, computer engineering, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, biomedical engineering and consumer electronics.
