Professor Recognized for Research, Service

Dr. Meghna Sabharwal, professor and program head of public and nonprofit management in the School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences at UT Dallas, received the 2021 Outstanding Scholar Award from the Section on Personnel Administration and Labor Relations of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA).

The award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated an exemplary record of research, teaching and service in public human resource management.

“I am extremely humbled and honored to receive the Outstanding Scholar Award from ASPA,” Sabharwal said. “Thanks to all my students who push me to be a better scholar, teacher and person. Thanks to all my mentors, colleagues and the entire human resources community for continuing to inspire me with their research and scholarly contributions.”

ASPA, the largest professional association in American public administration, works to advance the art, science, teaching and practice of public and nonprofit administration. Created in 1979, the Section on Personnel Administration and Labor Relations of the society promotes the importance of HR management and labor relations in public service organizations.

Sabharwal’s research has been published in numerous academic journals, including the Journal of Public Administration Research and TheoryPublic Administration and Review of Public Personnel Administration. Her research focuses on public human resource management, specifically related to workplace diversity, job satisfaction, performance, comparative HR management and highly skilled immigrants.

Lecturer Named Prospanica Chapter President

Dr. Maria Gomez Albrecht, a marketing lecturer in the Executive MBA and Global Leadership MBA programs in the Naveen Jindal School of Management at UT Dallas, has been elected president of the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of Prospanica for its 2021 term.

Prospanica is a nationwide nonprofit that promotes and advocates for the growth of Hispanic MBAs and business professionals in corporate America.

As DFW president, Albrecht will be responsible for developing and leading local strategies to grow the chapter’s membership and increase its value to its members.

“The strategic vision over the next year is to maintain the chapter’s leadership position in the Metroplex as the top organization for Hispanic professionals to achieve full educational, economic and social potential,” Albrecht said.

“The focus will remain on helping Hispanic professionals and college students to connect, advance and thrive in their careers,” she said.

Albrecht, who earned her doctorate in business administration and management from SMC University, brings over 25 years of corporate experience to the classroom. She has extensive experience in domestic and international marketing, e-commerce, sales operations, project management, data analytics, supply chain and vendor management. Fluent in Spanish and Portuguese, she also has business proficiency in French and Italian.
