Efforts to ensure campus accessibility for all people with disabilities have earned the Facilities Management staff recognition from the Office of Business Affairs.

The staff was recognized for its collaboration with the Office of Disability Services to address physical accessibility issues at the University.

The staff received the inaugural “Milky Way” award, created to recognize exemplary work in promoting quality of life for the university’s students.

Accessibility projects in the past year have included:

  • Installation of several new handicapped doors.
  • Reconstruction of restrooms to meet new standards.
  • Adjustment of ramps with the correct grade.
  • Installation of a new shelter for student DART Para-transit riders.
