Original Feb. 2 message:

Dear UT Dallas students, faculty and staff,

Because of the potential for hazardous weather conditions this week, UT Dallas is canceling classes and activities beginning tonight, Feb. 2, at 5:30 p.m. All classes and activities scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 3, are also canceled. This includes all classes in all modalities as well as exams.

Campus facilities including the Eugene McDermott Library, Student Union and Activity Center will close at 5 p.m. this afternoon and will remain closed through Thursday, Feb. 3.

An announcement about Friday, Feb. 4, classes and operations will be made Thursday.

Only essential employees are expected to report to campus for work. Nonessential staff, however, may be expected to perform their duties remotely. Please discuss with your supervisor the expectations for working remotely or monitoring email and other forms of communication during a campus emergency in order to respond to business needs. Employees currently working remotely should continue to perform their assigned duties unless instructed otherwise by their supervisors.

To be clear, the health and safety of our employees are our priorities and should take precedence over any work responsibilities. Supervisors will work with employees accordingly.

Essential campus services, including UT Dallas Police, Dining Services and residence halls, will remain in operation.

We will continue to monitor conditions and provide updates. Please check the UT Dallas website; monitor emergency text alerts and University social media channels; and make necessary preparations for the weather.

We encourage everybody to take precautions to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe.
