The UT Dallas volleyball team enters the weekend with a perfect 18-0 record and a No. 11 national ranking in the American Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

The Comets, who now have a three-game lead in the ASC East Division race with just four regular season conference games left, swept their division’s athlete awards this week.

Niki Calverley was chosen the ASC East Offensive Player of the Week, and Melanie Power won the Defensive Player of the Week award for the third straight week.

The Comets, one of just two undefeated Division III teams in the nation, achieved their highest ranking of the season in the Oct. 20 poll, moving up to No. 11.

The Comets are also closing in on hosting the ASC Championship Tournament Nov. 6-7 with their fourth-straight East Division crown firmly in reach. After second-pace East Texas Baptist fell to 13-3 in conference play last weekend with two losses at the ASC Crossover Tournament, UT Dallas needs just two wins in its final four conference games to clinch or another win over ETBU this Friday.

UT Dallas travels to East Texas Baptist in Marshall on Friday night, then meets Mississippi College in Clinton, Miss., on Saturday. The team plays a non-conference matchup against Austin College on Tuesday night in Sherman.
