University representatives and community leaders hosted Texas Speaker of the House Tom Craddick on campus Monday for a tour and briefing on state issues.

State Rep. Dan Branch and Rep. Jerry Madden welcomed the Speaker, as did university friends such as Louis Beecherl, Debbie Francis and Richardson City Manager Bill Keffler.

Speaker Craddick has been a strong supporter of UT Dallas for many years.

His leadership was instrumental in bringing forth state funding for the Natural Science and Engineering Research Laboratory (NSERL).  His efforts also helped secure a $2 million special item for UT Dallas during this past legislative session to fund science, engineering and mathematics.
