UT Dallas basketball fans can score a win for mistreated women and children by donating their pocket and purse change at games starting next week.

It’s the second year in a row that the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee has taken part in “Make a Change in 14 Days.”  The SAAC groups in the American Southwest Conference organized the spare-change drive to lend a hand to charities.

The UT Dallas group will use the coins to support Hope’s Door, an area facility that provides services for abused women and children in Dallas, Collin and surrounding counties.

The drive runs through Feb. 9.

Coins will be collected at upcoming home basketball games. First up is the game against UT Tyler on Monday in the UT Dallas Activity Center.

Donors who can’t make it to the basketball court will have the chance to donate their extra coins elsewhere on campus.

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee will be vying with groups on other campuses to see who can collect the most funds as part of the drive. Last year, the 15 conference SAAC groups raised a combined $2,716.12 for charity.
