A string of victories has landed UT Dallas men’s and women’s basketball teams at the top of their divisions and earned both squads places in the top 25 national rankings.

The women’s team dispatched the Schreiner Mountaineers 75-56 on Saturday for a perfect 8-0 sweep of teams in the American Southwest Conference Western Division.  In the men’s game, UT Dallas trounced the Mountaineers 78-48.

It is the first time in Comets history that both teams have been nationally ranked.

In the women’s game, Lauren Hale led the Comets with 20 points and eight rebounds. Freshman Lyndsey Smith added 16 points and seven rebounds, and Chelsea Edwards had 12 points.
 
Brandon Greene and Jimmy Witten led the men to victory with 11 points each. The team hit 53 percent of their shots in the first half and more than 61 percent in the second period.

Both teams face off against East Texas Baptist University on Thursday in the Activity Center.
