RICHARDSON, Texas (Nov. 10, 2005) – The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Chamber Singers, the UTD Chorale and the Symphonic Brass Quintet, directed by Kathryn Evans, will present Home for the Holidays on Sunday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the University Theatre.
“The theme for this year’s Holiday Sing underscores the natural desire to spend special occasions with loved ones and a longing ‘to be home’ at this special time of year,” said Evans, who is associate dean of UTD’s School of Arts and Humanities.
The Holiday Sing will consist of readings, Christmas carols, and a special visit by
Santa Claus.
The audience will be invited to sing along with some of the songs.

Choral solos will include I’ll Be Home for Christmas, I Wonder as I Wander, Christmas Time is Here and Home for the Holidays. Children’s songs such as Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer will be sung in addition to traditional carols like The First Noel, We Three Kings, Joy to the World and Silent Night. The performance will include selected readings from A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens and a musical arrangement of the perennial favorite ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas by Clement C. Moore.
The Holiday Sing began at UTD 29 years ago with a simple invitation to the university’s neighbors to visit the campus for a special event. Since then, the concert has become a favorite tradition for residents of the Richardson area and beyond. Due to the popularity of the free event, it is recommended that audience members arrive early. The Symphonic Brass Quintet will present pre-show holiday favorites.
