UT Dallas graduates will cap off their academic journeys and mark their achievements with families and friends at fall commencement ceremonies, which will begin Dec. 16.

Commencement ceremonies marking the end of the fall 2022 semester — and the crowning moment of many academic journeys — will be held on The University of Texas at Dallas campus Dec. 16, 19 and 20.

Commencement Coverage

Each of the University’s seven schools will have their own ceremonies in either the Activity Center or the Edith O’Donnell Arts and Technology Building Lecture Hall.

The new School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology (AHT) — formed from the merger of the School of Arts and Humanities and the School of Arts, Technology, and Emerging Communication — will hold its first commencement.

A total of 11 ceremonies will take place, including the doctoral hooding ceremony that kicks off festivities Dec. 16. More than 2,970 students are expected to earn their UT Dallas degrees this fall. The University is expected to award 1,903 bachelor’s degrees and 990 master’s degrees. In addition, 81 doctoral candidates have been certified. More than 2,950 students are expected to participate in commencement ceremonies, including some who earned their degrees over the summer.

Ceremonies to be held Dec. 19 include exercises for the School of Behavioral and Brain Sciences; School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics; School of Economic, Political and Policy Sciences; School of Interdisciplinary Studies and the aforementioned School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology. Separate undergraduate and graduate ceremonies will be held for the Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science in the afternoon.

Dec. 20 events will highlight the Naveen Jindal School of Management, with three ceremonies taking place in the Activity Center.

After each ceremony, graduates and guests will be directed to the Davidson-Gundy Alumni Center for Grads on the Green, which includes photo opportunities and special gifts.

All fall 2022 graduates can also participate in the campuswide University Commencement ceremony planned for May 12, 2023.
