The “Wi$e Up” program, for women seeking greater mastery over their money,  comes to UT Dallas with a “Financial Fitness Boot Camp” this week.

The program, scheduled for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 18 in the Galaxy Room (SU 2.602), is open to UT Dallas women who are faculty, students and staff members.  Galerstein Women’s Center organized the workshop in partnership with the U.S. Department of Labor Women’s Bureau and Prudential Financial.

The Wi$e Up Boot Camp is designed to offer women the basics for effective retirement and financial planning.  The Women’s Center  worked with Texas A&M University to develop the original on-line and classroom curriculum.

The online Wi$e Up module is described as a financial education demonstration project that targets Generation X and Y women.  The curriculum is complemented by an “Ask the Experts” feature, which permits participants to send questions by e-mail to volunteers with financial expertise.

Another feature available to participants in both the online and classroom-based versions is a series of bi-monthly, one-hour teleconference calls with featured speakers and a question and answer session.
