RICHARDSON, Texas (Feb. 13, 2006) — The University of Texas at Dallas’ premier performing ensembles, the UTD Chamber Singers, directed by Kathryn Evans, and the UTD Jazz Band, directed by Kelly Durbin, will appear together in a concert celebrating the genius of the legendary Duke Ellington on Friday, Feb. 24, in the University Theatre at 8 p.m. This concert will be free and open to the public.
Following their annual tradition of highlighting some of the great composers of jazz and musical theater, the two groups will collaborate for the seventh year to present some of Ellington’s greatest compositions, including It Don’t Mean a Thing, Mood Indigo, C Jam Blues, Satin Doll, Come Sunday, In a Mellow Tone, Do Nothing Til You Hear From Me, I’m Beginning to See the Light, Take the A Train, I Got It Bad, and In a Sentimental Mood.
