RICHARDSON, Texas (Feb. 4, 2005) —For the sixth year, The University of Texas at Dallas’ premier performing ensembles — the UTD Chamber Singers, directed by Kathryn Evans, and the UTD Jazz Band, directed by Kelly Durbin – will perform together in a free concert of jazz favorites, to be held at 8 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, in the Jonsson Performance Hall on campus.
The UTD Chamber Singers will present works for vocal ensemble, arranged for the two popular vocal ensembles, The Manhattan Transfer and The Real Group. The evening’s program will include Operator, A Nightingale Sang in Berkley Square, Java Jive, Route 66, Snowfall, Choo Choo Ch’boogie, Twilight Tone, Tuxedo Junction, Ray’s Rockhouse, Chile con Carne, Stormy Weather and Lullaby of Broadway. The UTD Jazz Band will perform a wide variety of music, ranging from big band to swing to hot Latin numbers to contemporary jazz/rock arrangements.
