RICHARDSON, Texas (Oct. 18, 2006) — William Shakespeare’s Comedy of Errors will run at The University of Texas at Dallas’ University Theatre at 8 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays Nov. 2-11. Matthew Tomlanovich of
Discover Shakespeare
will direct.

In “The Complete Works of William Shakespeare,” edited by David Bevington, Comedy of Errors is described as “perhaps the most uncomplicatedly funny of Shakespeare’s comedies, [which] seldom fails to delight an audience.”

Tomlanovich describes the production as, “Twins separated at birth in a terrible accident at sea, a husband seducing his sister-in-law, servants who are beaten regularly … all the ingredients needed for comedy!  Shakespeare’s earliest comic masterpiece Comedy of Errors is a tale of coincidence and slapstick humor told by clowns with sharp witticisms and silly walks. A fast-paced farcical fable with no moral other than laughter is its own reward.”

Tomlanovich, who recently co-directed a critically acclaimed puppet version of Comedy of Errors with Valerie Hauss-Smith, holds a master’s in fine arts from the California Institute of the Arts. He has taught theater at Southern Methodist University, Collin County Community College, the University of North Texas and the University of Utah.  His directing credits include Twelfth Night, Dumb Supper, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Ground Zero Christmas, Dark Ride, Red Noses and Into the Night.

Tickets for the performance are $15 for general admission and free at the door to UT Dallas students with valid identification.  Ticket office hours for advance purchase are 2 to 5 p.m. weekdays. To purchase tickets using Visa, MasterCard or Discover, call 972-883-2552.
