RICHARDSON, Texas (April 19, 2006) — The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Chamber Singers and the UTD Chorale, directed by Hoyt Neal, will present a free tribute concert to composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart at 7:30 pm. on Sunday, April 23 in the University Theatre on campus. It is the second such accolade held at UTD in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the musician’s birth.

The evening will focus on Mozart’s best-known works, including pieces from his time as court composer to the Archbishop of Salzburg. Guest artists will include Kathryn Evans, associate dean of UTD’s School of Arts & Humanities, soprano; Blake Davidson, baritone; Rebecca Campbell, contralto; Ron Montgomery, tenor; and guest orchestra and staff accompanist Michael McVay on organ.

Accompanied by a chamber orchestra, the vocal ensembles will performTantum Ergo (K142), Missa Brevis (K220), Ave Verum Corpus (K 618), and the Vesperae Solennes de Confessore (K339), which includes the following movements drawn from the Psalms and the Gospel: Confitebor (Psalm 110/111), Beatus Vir (Psalm 111/112), Laudate Pueri (Psalm 112/113), Laudate Dominum (Psalm 116/117), and Magnificat (Luke 1:46-55).
