RICHARDSON, Texas (Oct. 26, 2004) — The Clavier Trio, featuring faculty member and Dallas Symphony Orchestra violinist Arkady Fomin, will perform what is being celebrated as its “official inaugural concert” as chamber music ensemble in residence at The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) at 7:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 14, in the Conference Center on the UTD campus. The concert is titled Schubert, Suk & Ravel.
Fomin, who also serves as artistic director of the New Conservatory of Dallas, will be joined by cellist Peter Steffens, who is also a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and pianist David Korevaar, a member of the Prometheus Piano Quartet and professor at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Fomin has been with The Clavier Trio from its inception; Steffens and Korevaar joined the ensemble in 2003. The trio will perform one of the most popular chamber music works, Piano Trio in B Flat Major by Austrian composer Franz Schubert, during the first half of the concert. The second half of the program will feature Elegy Opus 23 by Czech Joseph Suk, a student of Antonin Dvorak who fell in love with Dvorak’s daughter and never left the family. The program finale will feature Piano Trio by one of the most colorful composers of the 20th Century, Maurice Ravel.
Tickets for the Clavier Trio concert are $15 for general admission, $10 for students and free at the door to UTD students with a valid identification.
