Since her solo concert debut at UTD in 2001, Trevor, who has been acclaimed for her full, rich tone and technical skill, has won numerous awards, including the grand prize at the 2003 Dallas Symphonic Festival Competition, third prize in the 2003 Juanita Miller Competition and the grand prize at the 2000 Collin County Young Artists’ Competition.

Introduced to the violin at the age of two by her mother, Trevor later studied with Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) violinist Maria Schleuning and currently studies with DSO violinist and UTD faculty member Arkady Fomin, who is the artistic director at the NCD.

Trevor has appeared as soloist with several orchestras, including the Knoxville Symphony, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Plano Symphony, the Missouri Symphony, the Latvian Chamber Orchestra and the NCD.   Her 2004 guest appearances will include performances with the Lutoslawski Filharmonie in Poland, the Teplice Philharmonic in the Czech Republic, the Muncie Symphony and the Missouri Chamber Orchestra.

Trevor’s program at UTD will include Prokofiev’s Sonata #2, Shostakovich’s 4 Preludes, Ravel’s Tzigane, J.S. Bach’s Chaconne, as well as Kreisler’s Recitative and Scherzo, which will be preformed on an Italian violin circa 1777 made by Carlo Landolfi.

This concert marks the continued commitment of both UTD and the NCD, largely through Fomin, to bring the next generation of performers from the Metroplex to the community’s attention.

“As part of our ongoing commitment to fostering talent among young people, we are delighted to have Chloe Trevor return to perform in our Rising Stars Concert Series” said Kathryn Evans, associate dean of UTD’s School of Arts and Humanities.   “It is a part of our educational mission to discover, encourage and promote young artists.   The Rising Stars series gives our students the opportunity not only to see other young artists perform, but also to perform themselves.   We were pleased to have Chloe present her first solo concert here at UTD in 2001, and it has been a pleasure to watch her develop and grow over the past three years. ”
