Award-Winning Violinist Chloé Trevor, 16, Returns To UTD’s Rising Stars Series

RICHARDSON, Texas (Feb. 13, 2004) — The New Conservatory of Dallas (NCD) and The University of Texas at Dallas (UTD), which have had a mutually rewarding academic and artistic partnership for the past three years, will jointly present a concert on Sunday, March 21, featuring award-winning, 16-year-old violinist Chloé Trevor as part of UTD’s Rising Stars Series .   The free concert will begin at 3 p.m. in the Jonsson Performance Hall (JO 2.604) on the UTD campus.

Since her solo concert debut at UTD in 2001, Trevor, who has been acclaimed for her full, rich tone and technical skill, has won numerous awards, including the grand prize at the 2003 Dallas Symphonic Festival Competition, third prize in the 2003 Juanita Miller Competition and the grand prize at the 2000 Collin County Young Artists’ Competition.  

Introduced to the violin at the age of two by her mother, Trevor later studied with Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO) violinist Maria Schleuning and currently studies with DSO violinist and UTD faculty member Arkady Fomin, who is the artistic director at the NCD.   

Trevor has appeared as soloist with several orchestras, including the Knoxville Symphony, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, the Plano Symphony, the Missouri Symphony, the Latvian Chamber Orchestra and the NCD.   Her 2004 guest appearances will include performances with the Lutoslawski Filharmonie in Poland, the Teplice Philharmonic in the Czech Republic, the Muncie Symphony and the Missouri Chamber Orchestra.

Trevor’s program at UTD will include Prokofiev’s Sonata #2, Shostakovich’s 4 Preludes, Ravel’s Tzigane, J.S. Bach’s Chaconne, as well as Kreisler’s Recitative and Scherzo, which will be preformed on an Italian violin circa 1777 made by Carlo Landolfi.

This concert marks the continued commitment of both UTD and the NCD, largely through Fomin, to bring the next generation of performers from the Metroplex to the community’s attention.
