The UTDance Ensemble and the Graduate Translators Association at The University of Texas at Dallas will present Visual Translation at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 12-13, in the University Theatre. There will be a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Oct. 13. The performances are free and open to the public.
The performances will focus on three poems, Song Out of Tune, Wind from All Compass Points and Words in the Shape of a Cloud of Dust, by contemporary Spanish poet Octavio Paz, translated into multiple languages and brought to life visually through movement. Graduate students from the School of Arts and Humanities will recite the poems. UT Dallas dance faculty members Michele Hanlon and Micki Saba and Ph.D. candidate and dancer Solana Delamant will provide the choreography.

About the Graduate Translators Association
The Graduate Translators Association (GTA) at UT Dallas was founded in 2004 to promote translation of literary and scholarly works. In addition to working closely with Professor Rainer Schulte and the Center for Translation Studies at UT Dallas, the GTA organizes an informal series of faculty dialogues for graduate students in the school of Arts and Humanities.
UTDance Ensemble
The UTDance Ensemble, under the direction of Micki Saba, is composed of talented and dedicated students enrolled in Dance Performance at The University of Texas at Dallas. The ensemble membership represents a wide variety of academic disciplines and artistic backgrounds. The students participate in dance performances and events both on and off campus throughout the semester. In addition to the two main stage concerts presented in the University Theatre each year, the students have performed in Dallas Dance at the Nasher, The Dallas Morning News Dance Festival, Dance for the Planet, The American College Dance Festival, The Dance Fusion Concert at Collin County Community College and The Mesquite Dance Festival.
Residencies offered each spring include artists from around the country. Past guests include former or current members of companies such as Pilobolus and Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company. UT Dallas offers classes in modern, jazz, ballet, composition and dance history.
