The UT Dallas Staff Council estimates that last week’s Jail n’ Bail fundraiser amassed more than $10,000 in contributions.

The event was held during Welcome Week. The donations and pledges that the Staff Council logged in one day exceeded totals raised previously in an entire year, said Lt. Chris Dickson, the council president.

The donations will go to support the Staff Council Scholarship for UT Dallas staff members and for the Officer Bernard F. Parson Memorial Scholarship for students.

“I want to thank the Welcome Week Committee as well as those members of our community who volunteered in good spirit to be ‘arrested’ and/or raise funds for these very important scholarships,” Dickson said.

Gifts are still being accepted at the Jail n’ Bail donation site. All gifts are tax-deductible.
