Approximately 36 researchers from six schools will compete for three prizes during the Undergraduate Research Poster Competition on Thursday, April 23, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the lobby of the Engineering and Computer Science North Building.

Competition is nothing new to these students, who will be showcasing the results of the research proposals that won them Undergraduate Scholar Research grants.

The semester-long awards gave the students $500 and their faculty advisers $300 to use on project-related expenses such as equipment or travel. The grants are supported in part by Raytheon and Tektronix Communications.

The poster competition and the initial competitive proposal process give these students a taste of some of the incentives and experiences common to graduate students.

This is the second year for both the grants and the posters, something Vice President for Research Bruce Gnade intends to continue annually.

Poster topics will include:

  • Testing For Software Safety.
  • Sustaining Families, Dissuading Crime: An Evaluation Of The Family Preservation Program.
  • Climate And Its Affect On Companion Animal Bladder Stones, Preliminary Results.
