The Chamber Orchestra Kremlin will perform with special guest Emanuel Borok, concertmaster of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, at UT Dallas on Friday, Feb. 5, at 8 p.m. in the Conference Center.
Borok, who has had a distinguished career as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader of the Israel Chamber Orchestra, the Moscow Philharmonic and the Boston Pops, grew up in Riga, Latvia, where he received his musical instruction at the Darzinya Music School. It was there that he met Misha Rachlevsky, who is the founder and current music director of the Chamber Orchestra Kremlin.
“Misha and I have known each other since we were teenagers. It is a thrill to be able to make music with him before ‘my town’s’ audience. Ladies and gentlemen: Let me present to you a much gentler, kinder Kremlin than the one you have known for so long,” said Borok.
The program’s first half includes Schnittke’s “Suite in Ancient Style” (orch. M. Rachlevsky), Respighi’s “Ancient Airs and Dances,” and Vivaldi’s “Il Sospetto,” a violin concerto on which Borok’s wife, Marilyn Roark, will accompany the orchestra on the harpsichord. An all-Tchaikovsky second half will feature “Serenade Melancholique for Violin and Orchestra, Op. 26” and “Serenade for Strings” for the finale.
